X2 Optical Module Introduction

X2 is a standardized package of the 10G optical transponders .  X2 are available for  both versions  10G Ethernet and 10G Fibre Channel. X2 optical transponder is only applied to the data communication optical fiber connection (not used in the telecommunications transmission network), and their size is smaller than XENPAK optical transponder.Electrical interface of board is standardized, be knowed as XAUI (4X3.125Gb / s).

X2 optical modules is evolved from the standard of Xenpak, and its internal functional modules are same to Xenpak basically,  the circuit board applications are same too .that only need one optical module to achieve  10G Ethernet interface functions. As Xenpak optical modules put-on the board need to slot on the circuit board , so it will be  achieve  complex and can not achieve high density applications. improved  X2 optical modules ' size  only about half of  Xenpak, can be directly put on the board, so apply to high-density rack systems and PCI card applications.

X2 optical modules are available in two circuit interface: XAUI and Serial Framer Interface (SFI-4), which can be used for 10G Ethernet and  also can be used for OC-192 SDH and 10GFC. X2 compared to Xpak changes are mainly reflected in the rail system, the industry generally believe that the  two specifications will be integrated together finally.

Cisco SFP-10G-SR transceiver

Cisco SFP-10G-SR is a SFP+ transceiver that support 10 g Ethernet . .This is the Hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into an Ethernet SFP+ port of a Cisco switch .
The SFP-10G-SR hot swappable SFP+ transceiver use LC connector interface, supports a link length of 26m on standard Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade multimode fiber (MMF). Using 2000 MHz*km MMF (OM3), up to 300m link lengths are possible. The SFP-10G-SR SFP+ modules are easy for deployment and maintenance, Rohs compliant and meet the IEEE standards for 10G Ethernet.

Brief introduction of fiber optic transceiver

Fiber optical transceiver module is composed of optoelectronic devices,functional circuitry and optical interface etc.The optoelectronic devices include transceiver and receiving two parts.
Transceiver part is: input a certain rate of signal by the internal driver chip to drive the Semiconductor lasers(LD)or the light emitting diode(LED) emits the corresponding rate of modulated optical signal.And the transceiver part can make the power of output optical signal stability because of its internal light power automatic control circuit.
Receiving part is: after a certain rate of the optical signal inputed to the optical module,the optical signal will be converted to electrical signal by the optical detection Diode. Then output  the corresponding bit rate signal through the pre-amplifier. The output signal generally is PECL  power Level. While the input optical power  less than a certain value will output the awarning signal .
