Difference between LC/APC connector and SC/APC connector

The difference between LC/APC connector and SC/APC connector
Firstly
The appearance different, though their all in Inserted pin bars type ,LC/APC, is half smaller than SC/APC.
LC/APC uses a 1.25mm ferrule
SC/APC uses a 2.5mm ferrule
As a result the LC/APC will enable you to have 2x the density of SC.
Sencondly
For now, the SC/APC connector is hot than LC/APC, as LC connector in high cost and technic than SC. FTTx the market is more familiar with SC/APC. Main reasons are that it is a well proven design, more rugged construction, lower cost due to Volume manufacture, additionally more innovations are based around SC for the FTTx market.
LC will get better & cheaper, but today the SC is the common choice. Unless of course you are stuck for space (For example on your active equipment).

SC/APC and LC/APC should achieve the same performance if they are designed and manufactured to meet the specs. LC presents some challenges for craft interaction on high density frames, but connectors meeting recognized specs like IEC or the Telcordia GR-326 will perform as expected…-65dB or better for return loss should be no problem. Note that GR-326 does allow a slightly reduced load to be used for LC connectors during Transmission With an Applied Load (TWAL).
Regarding connectors made using G657 fiber, we have tested many here at Telcordia against GR-326 from various suppliers. The only consistent issue we see is with excessive fiber recess (>100nm) after environmental exposures. In most cases this is easily resolved by modifying the epoxy prepration, epoxy curring, and the polishing process. Otherwise, we have seen very good performance from connectorized G.657 drops cables and jumpers used in FTTH applications.
